If it is not possible for you to visit the Greenland National Archives to do archival studies/research yourself, it is possible to have the research done as a paid service by one of the archivists. This service does not include genealogical research.
How to Commission an Archival Study in the Greenland National Archives
To commission an archival study in the Greenland National Archives, send a written request either by postal or electronic mail. The request must clearly state which information one is looking for in the archives and a reply will be giving either confirming or declining the possibility of obtaining the information in an archival study.
Archival research is only commenced by the National Archives when a clearly defined request is presented in advance.
Archival Research - Prices and Fees
According to §27 in the Greenlandic law about archives, the Greenland National Archives can charge payment/fees for performing archival studies or research for individuals and institutions.
If the archivist assesses that the requested archival study is possible, an estimate of duration and price will be made in advance. Archival studies are charged by the hour. Furthermore a fee for copies of documents and postage can be charged. Routine requests requiring less than hour of work are free of charge. Routine requests are typically requests regarding founding dates of towns or settlements or general requests regarding the types of source materials kept in the archives.
